A compilation album from Colchester’s young music makers

In the Spring of 2024, members of the Colchester based CLIP Academy recorded, composed and produced an album. Titled Anachrono, meaning to attribute something to a period to which it does not belong, it is a unique collection of remixes, sampling anachronistic instruments recorded with anachronistic methods.

Throughout early 2024 members of CLIP academy came together to record unique local Colchester musicians, including punk rockers Ecto Peach and medieval ensemble Colchester Waits.

These musicians were captured by a variety of anachronistic recording methods, whether it was looking to the past with four track tape decks or dictaphone minidisc recordings; or looking to the future with 32bit floating point and ambisonic microphone recording techniques.

The diverse group of young musicians created their own sample libraries and remixed these unique samples into a variety of genres of music, stretching and warping the samples to create something even more original.
