Learn how to make glitch inspired music and visuals with our free series of online workshops for ages 16-25yrs.

GLITCH is three part online workshop series where you’ll learn how create futuristic glitch music and visuals. This course of three 2hr workshops will help you discover new techniques to create exciting futuristic glitch inspired music and visuals using free software.

This is an intermediate level course. A basic understanding of music production and experience using a DAW is recommended.

This workshop is for young people aged 16 – 25yrs old and will take place via Zoom.

Workshop Schedule

Wednesday 30th November, 5:30 – 7:30pm

Experiment with granular synthesis and re-sampling to create futuristic glitch music.

Wednesday 7th December, 5:30 – 7:30pm

Discover experimental techniques for electronic sound design.

Wednesday 14th December, 5:30 – 7:30pm

Play with the software Touch Designer and learn tips and tricks from artist Sunnk. Sunnk is a audiovisual artist and co-founder of glitch.cool, you can watch his videos here.

Software

For workshops 1 and 2 you will need music production software. If you don’t have this already, we would recommend you start a free trial of either Ableton, FL Studio or Reaper. You will also need Touch Designer installed for workshop 3.

JUHA

Workshop Leader

Juha is a musician whose style is influenced by abstract genres such as glitch music, techno and IDM. He started off singing in Cantate, a choir with percussive performance, and playing piano. He then moved on to making ambient and experimental music, with an emphasis on improvisation and sound creation using circuit-bending and recordings in nature, through attending CLIP workshops.

Sunnk

Workshop Leader

Sunnk is a music producer and visual artist. Within his music you can find a unique combination of razor-sharp electronic sound design, contemporary glitch beat structures and melancholic sounding piano melodies. In 2019 he co-founded Glitch.cool, a collective of producers, sound designers, programmers and visual artists orbiting around the glitch aesthetic. Promoting the development of burgeoning fields at the intersection of technology and art.

Frazer Merrick

CLIP Co-Founder

Frazer is a sound artist who has built an interactive piano from bananas, an instrument which listens to light and played a gig under water. He has years of experience running education projects with community groups, schools and young people of all abilities. Frazer is level 2 safeguarding trained and has received training in working with young people with autism spectrum condition.

Simon Keep

CLIP Co-Founder

Simon Keep is a musician, educator, researcher & sound designer with a wealth of professional & community arts experience. He has worked with high profile partners including BBC, Channel 4, Nike and MG. You can find him turning old junk into instruments or recording the sounds of the sky from a hot air balloon. Simon also has a PGCE, is a practicing lecturer in Sonic Arts and is a trained Mental Health First Aider.
